I've known about this saying for a long time.  It slapped me in the face last year. Our bodies are machines, and what we eat fuels us. Unknown to me, I was poisoning my body. I injured myself and wasn't healing properly. I went to see a physician and after numerous tests I was informed that I had diabetes. Like that, I lost years of my life. I reached out to Sara who had been nudging me for months about my health.  I finally sat down with Sara and listened. Sara enlightened me and made me aware of my unknown bad habits. Long story short I had been poisoning myself for years. Sara made various recommendations and I was committed to change. Today I am happy to report that her recommendations kick-started my pancreas and improved my quality of life. I do not require insulin and I feel fantastic. Sara guided me through my change and knowing what is happening with my body made it easier. Like that, Sara gave me back years of my life. Thank you Sara, my kiddos thank you too. Working with Sara has been a life changing experience that I am so grateful for! I've suffered from allergies for 10 years and took Zyrtec daily to deal with them. Together we designed an elimination diet to help identify possible allergens while weaning off Zyrtec (with additional guidance from my doctor on how to best stop taking Zyrtec). We also spent a lot of time discussing the emotional, mental and lifestyle factors that could be contributing to my reactions, which I found to be very valuable and an important part of my experience.

I am thrilled to say that with Sara's help I am officially off Zyrtec and have a much better understanding of how my body reacts to different types of food. Sara helped me tremendously in my quest to solve some of my health issues. I have struggled with hypothyroidism and low ferritin levels for several years, and taking Levothyroxine was not only not solving the problem, but was also something I didn't feel great about taking. My end goal would be to stop taking synthetic hormones once and for all. After just the initial consultation, it was clear how much Sara knew about wellness and nutrition. All you would have to do is take one look at her to recognize she is a poster child for "health!" Our first consultation was extremely in depth, where she asked me questions about my background and history, allowing her to know what plan of action to put into place. She is a great listener and understood how all of my problems were correlated, and explained that my endocrine system was not functioning properly.

 

From there, Sara had me keep a journal outlining all food and drinks being consumed over a week span. As it turns out, my caloric intake was way too low and I was actually eating many of the wrong foods, despite having thought I was a "healthy" individual. Sara explained to me that calories were not at all the most important factor.

 

She crafted a diet which I followed strictly for several weeks and still maintain. She incorporated tons of ingredients that are known to boost thyroid and raise iron levels. Sara managed to do all of this while still providing me with DELICIOUS recipes. After just 2 weeks I was feeling more energetic, lighter, and more clear-headed. Each time I met with Sara she had more tips and was truly a wealth of knowledge. I trust her with everything diet related, and she was an absolute pleasure to work with. She is passionate about what she does, and has the education to go along with it. Thank you Sara!

Sara is an incredible person to work with! 

While she has a cheerful and positive attitude, she's also realistic. If something felt too difficult to commit to, she was able to break it down into smaller tasks in order to accomplish the bigger goal. It shouldn't be incredibly overwhelming if you are looking to make lifestyle changes, and I felt safe to say no if something wouldn't work for me.

I also love that while nutrition is the forefront, the conversation delves deeper into what, in my case, is causing me to eat a certain way. It's great to work with someone that can take in a lot of information and be able to draw connections. Were worked through how my daily stresses were putting significant strains on my body.

Working with Sara has been eye-opening. Beyond providing great nutrition advice and delicious recipes, she also took the role of therapist at times, helping me realize the different ways my relationship with food and my body reflected other stresses in my life. She encouraged me to stop focusing on superficial reflections of my health, and get more in tune with how I feel in a holistic sense. While it's still a work in progress, since working with her I've become more in tune with my body, better able to sense its cravings, and as a result haven't the same "binge" or "cheat" days I had before — instead becoming more comfortable with treating myself to smaller indulgences throughout the week.
